Ossington 63 Bus Temporary Route Change
🤔 FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)❔
Q1: What does the project entail and when will it begin?
A1:
The City of Toronto is planning to resurface Ossington Avenue from Argyle Street to Queen Street West. Our inspection of the road shows that it needs repaving and sections of damaged curb and sidewalk need to be replaced to bring them to a state of
good repair.
The project is anticipated to begin in late-March 2023 and will take 6-8 weeks to complete.
Construction is anticipated to be completed in the following order:
• Reconstruction of sidewalks – one sidewalk will remain open at all times
• Road repairs – one traffic lane will be maintained throughout construction.
More details will be shared as plans are finalized with the Contractor.

Q6: If there are delays, how long will they last?
A6: Delays can be caused for any number of reasons including inclement weather, labour issues/shortages, supply chain issues/supply shortage, availability of equipment, complications with underground infrastructure, etc. If there will be delays, the City will provide advance notice and communicate any changes in the project timeline.
Q7: How will parking and/or driveway access be impacted?
A7: There will be temporary access restrictions during construction, mainly during paving operations (3-4 hours for 1 day at the end of the project) or sidewalk replacement (in affected locations, 24 hours for concrete curing). The contractor will notify you of any temporary restrictions to your driveway access. If your property has two entrances, one entrance will be kept open at all times.
Q8: Where will the construction staging and parking for construction staff be
located?
located?
A8: The location of a site trailer will be discussed with the Contractor to ensure that it is in an appropriate location and does not impact the community. The City acknowledges that there is limited on-street parking and will work with the Contractor to ensure that impacts to parking are reduced and advise that construction crews should park their personal vehicles well outside of the area to ensure that local businesses and residents can access the area.
Q9: Are any elements from the streetscape plan (i.e. sidewalk widening, more trees) going to be implemented for this?
A9: There are no streetscape improvements included in this project. The work will focus on achieving a 'state of good repair' meaning it will repair and reinstate the infrastructure that is currently on site. The incorporation of streetscape improvements must be planned several years in advance of construction. This process is led by the City's Transportation Services department and involves reviews with the BIA Office and local BIAs.
Q10: When will the City start communicating details to the neighbourhood?
A10: The City takes a no-surprise approach to construction with the goal of informing residents, local businesses and road users about construction activities and how to plan for them well in advance. Communications and updates for this project will be led by the Project Manager and will include printed materials such as wayfinding signage, "Open for Business" signage, a pre-construction notice, a construction notice and construction updates as well as social media updates when necessary. Pre-construction notices are distributed 2-3 months prior to construction and the construction notice is issued 2-3 weeks before
construction. Updates are issued as needed. The project team will hold construction progress meeting with the Contractor every two weeks. Following these meetings, the project team will provide an update to the Ossington BIA.

expected to be circulated?
expected to be circulated?
A11: A range of communication activities, tools and tactics will be used to keep the community and stakeholders informed about construction activities and the mitigation measures used to minimize impacts. These will include mailed construction notices,
weekly social media posts and email updates from the BIA, in addition to bi-weekly meetings between Construction Project Manager and the BIA.
